Overview

Samgyupsalamat UPAD Taft offers a solid Korean barbecue experience right in the heart of Malate, Manila. Located conveniently along P.Ocampo Street, this spot is a go-to for lovers of unli (unlimited) samgyupsal, particularly its well-seasoned beef and pork cuts. The restaurant excels in delivering savory, marinated meats that satisfy the cravings of students and young professionals looking for hearty, flavorful meals without burning a hole in their wallets.

The menu highlights include classic samgyupsal, gochujang samgyup that balances spice with depth, and their crowd-pleasing fried chicken balls available in several mouthwatering flavors – from honey soy garlic to spicy yangnyum. Adding to the experience are their large K-Bimbowls and chicken bowls that marry crispy Korean fried chicken with vibrant sauces, paired with rice and refreshing iced tea. Side dishes, or banchan, come generously with continuous refills, enhancing each bite of meat with contrasting textures and flavors. Don't miss the comforting egg stew and the rich, tender beef bulgogi if you want variety beyond the grill.

Dining at Samgyupsalamat feels organized and welcoming. Customer feedback speaks highly of the attentive, friendly staff who manage to stay efficient even during peak hours. The quick service ensures that food reaches the table hot and fresh, maintaining the momentum of the lively Korean BBQ feast. While the space is functional rather than luxurious and can get smoky during busy times, it suits the energetic vibe of its target audience – particularly students and casual diners eager for an approachable, no-frills Korean BBQ fix near Taft.

What sets Samgyupsalamat UPAD Taft apart is its balance between affordability and authenticity. The restaurant leans heavily into savory, robust flavors that satisfy the palate with each generous serving. Compared to other Korean BBQ joints nearby, it offers a streamlined menu focusing on quality meats and classic accompaniments rather than a sprawling variety of sides. Still, the inclusion of desserts like bingsu and cocktail options adds a modern touch to round out the dining experience.

In summary, Samgyupsalamat UPAD Taft is an excellent choice for those craving unlimited Korean barbecue in a convenient, student-friendly setting. With dependable service, flavorful dishes, and a lively atmosphere, it earns its reputation as a staple for Korean food enthusiasts in Manila’s busy Malate district.

I recently dined at Samgyupsalamat UPAD Taft and had a satisfying Korean BBQ experience. Their meat selection, especially the marinated beef and pork, was flavorful and well-seasoned. The side dishes were good and kept coming with refills, and the staff was attentive despite the usual dinner rush. It’s best to come early to avoid long lines since it’s always packed. Compared to Romantic Baboy, I’d say Samgyupsalamat leans more on the savory side with its meats, while Romantic Baboy offers more variety in sides like cheese scallops and even hotpot options. However, Samgyupsalamat makes up for it by offering unique add-ons like bingsu for dessert and cocktails to go with your meal, which is a nice touch if you want a complete Korean dining experience. The space can get a bit smoky during peak hours, and the seating is tighter than Romantic Baboy, but the price is student-friendly and the location is convenient—especially if you’re near Taft. Overall, it's a sulit spot for Korean BBQ cravings with bonus options that elevate the usual unli-meat setup.

I recently tried their Pork Gochujang because it was affordable and all. Honestly, I didn’t expect the quality and the taste of it would be incredible! Truly was shocked when I digged in. Plus, their service was also great, they were very helpful:). Surely will go back here and eat again!
